Rate limits

Each API key may make 120 requests per minute. Every response carries these headers:

RateLimit-Policy: 120;w=60
RateLimit-Limit: 120
RateLimit-Remaining: 87
RateLimit-Reset: 41

RateLimit-Reset is the number of seconds until the window resets. Over the limit you get 429 RATE_LIMITED with a Retry-After header in seconds; wait that long and retry. Requests refused for a missing, wrong or expired key are not counted. If you need more, use separate keys per system or contact us.

Messages you send are queued and handed to WhatsApp one by one per account, at the pace Meta allows. A burst of requests is accepted quickly (202) and delivered over the following seconds. For thousands of recipients, use a campaign in the panel — it handles pacing, Meta’s rate-limit back-off, opt-outs and reporting for you.

Meta sets two limits of its own on every WhatsApp number:

  • Messaging limit — how many unique customers you can start conversations with (by template) in a rolling 24 hours: from 250 for new numbers up to unlimited as your quality and volume grow. Replies to customers who messaged you don’t count.
  • Quality rating — based on how customers react (blocks, reports). Low quality can lower your messaging limit or pause templates.

MeAPI shows both for each number under My Numbers and warns you when quality drops.
