Keep your WhatsApp Business app and get the API too
Until recently, moving a number to the API meant giving up the WhatsApp Business app. With Meta’s coexistence, the same number works in both: you keep chatting from your phone while your team, campaigns and chatbots use MeAPI.
Your contacts and recent chat history (if you agree to share it) are imported, and messages you send from the app also appear in the MeAPI inbox, so everyone sees the whole conversation.

On Connection, pick “I already use the WhatsApp Business app on this number”.

Confirm in the app, choose whether to share chat history, and you’re connected.

Can I keep using the WhatsApp Business app on my phone?
Yes. With coexistence your existing WhatsApp Business app number can also run on the API. Chats sync between the app and MeAPI. Eligibility is decided by Meta (the number must be an active WhatsApp Business app number in a supported country).
