How to get the WhatsApp Business API in India: a step-by-step guide
By the MeAPI team · · 1 min read
You don’t apply to Meta and wait weeks any more. With Embedded Signup, a platform like MeAPI connects your number to the official Cloud API in one sitting.
What you need
- A Facebook account (yours, or the business owner’s)
- A phone number that can receive an SMS or a call — or your WhatsApp Business app number, if you want to keep the app (coexistence)
- Your business name and website (a Facebook page or Instagram works if you don’t have a site)
- A card for Meta’s message charges
Steps
- Start a trial on MeAPI and log in to the panel.
- Open Connection and choose Connect a new number, or I already use the WhatsApp Business app on this number.
- In Meta’s popup, log in with Facebook and choose or create your business portfolio.
- Create a WhatsApp Business account and set the display name customers will see — it should match your business name.
- Add the phone number and enter the code Meta sends.
- The popup closes and the panel shows Connected, with your number’s quality rating.
- In WhatsApp Manager → Payment settings, add a card for Meta’s charges.
After connecting
- Display name review: Meta checks the name; until it’s approved, messages may show your number.
- Business verification (in Meta Business Settings) raises your messaging limits and is needed for some features.
- Templates: create or pick your first message template so you can start conversations.
Common problems
- “This number is already registered on WhatsApp” — delete WhatsApp from that number first, or choose coexistence if it’s on the Business app.
- Error 3441047 during coexistence — the WhatsApp Business account you picked has marketing messages enabled; choose Create a new WhatsApp Business account in the popup. Details in the coexistence guide.
