How to build a WhatsApp chatbot for your business (no coding)
By the MeAPI team · · 1 min read
A good WhatsApp chatbot answers the routine questions instantly and gets out of the way when a person is needed. Here is how to build one in an afternoon.
1. List the top ten questions
Look at last month’s chats. Prices, timings, location, order status and “is this available?” usually cover most of them. Those become your menu.
2. Start with a welcome menu
Greet new chats with three or four buttons — Price list · Track order · Book · Talk to us. Buttons beat typed keywords: customers tap instead of guessing what to write.
3. Collect details with questions or forms
For enquiries, ask one thing at a time (name, city, budget) with validation, or open a WhatsApp Flow form that collects everything in one screen.
4. Always offer a human
Every path should end with Talk to us. In MeAPI, a handoff step assigns the chat to your team and pauses the bot, and an agent replying mutes the bot on that chat for two hours.
5. Add AI for the long tail
Questions you didn’t plan for — sizes, return rules, course details — are where an AI chatbot shines. It answers from your own PDFs, website and FAQs using your own AI key, and hands over when it isn’t sure.
6. Cover after-hours
An away flow replies with your timings and saves the question for the morning, so night-time enquiries aren’t lost.
7. Test, publish, measure
Run the flow in the simulator, publish it, and watch per-step statistics to see where customers drop off.
MeAPI includes 136 ready-made chatbots for 41 industries — welcome menu, lead capture, bookings, order status, FAQ, feedback and payment reminders, in English, Hindi and Gujarati — plus 15 classic starter flows on a drag-and-drop flow builder.
