Incoming webhooks — Zapier, Make, Pabbly and your own app

🔌 IntegrationsLevel: Advanced⏱ 8 min

🎯 Goal

Trigger WhatsApp messages from any app, without code.

🧰 What you need

  • A tool that can send an HTTP POST (Zapier, Make, Pabbly, a CRM, your website)
  • An approved template
  1. Integrations → Incoming webhook → Connect. Name it, pick the number to Send from, and click Set up. Copy the Webhook URL and the secret (Secret — copy it now, it will not be shown again; New secret makes a new one later).
  2. Switch on Incoming request, pick a template and map its variables to the field names you’ll send.
  3. In your tool, POST JSON to the URL with the header X-MeAPI-Secret: <secret> (X-Webhook-Secret works too), or add ?secret=… to the URL if your tool can’t set headers.
Request body
{
"id": "evt-1001",
"phone": "+919810000000",
"name": "Ravi",
"order_id": "A-1001",
"amount": "2499",
"link": "https://example.com/o/A-1001"
}
  • A phone number is required. MeAPI looks for phone, to, mobile, whatsapp or contact.phone, or the field you set under Phone number from. Without a country code it adds one from country (India if none). Everything else is yours to name and map.
  • Send an id to make retries safe: the same id is never messaged twice.
  • Zapier: action Webhooks by Zapier → POST, Payload Type json, your fields under Data, and the header X-MeAPI-Secret.
  • Make: module HTTP → Make a request, method POST, body type Raw / JSON, header X-MeAPI-Secret.
  • Pabbly Connect: action API (Pabbly) → Webhook, method POST, JSON payload, header X-MeAPI-Secret.
  • Missing or wrong secret → rejected. Check the header name exactly: X-MeAPI-Secret.
  • Form-encoded body. Send JSON (Content-Type: application/json).
  • No id on retries. The customer can get duplicates.
  • Guessing what went wrong. Open the integration: Activity shows the last 100 requests with their result.
