Limited-time offer, catalog, multi-product and authentication templates
🎯 Goal
Know when to use each special template type, and the rules Meta applies to each.
🧰 What you need
- For catalog and multi-product: a catalog connected to your number (Catalog and orders)
Limited-time offer (Marketing)
Section titled “Limited-time offer (Marketing)”A banner above the message with an offer headline (up to 16 characters, for example Diwali sale) and an optional countdown to the expiry time, plus a copy-code button for the coupon.
- Body up to 600 characters, no footer, no location header.
- The countdown shows on the WhatsApp mobile app.
- When sending, you set the expiry time and the coupon code.
Limited-time offer: headline, countdown, code.
Catalog (Marketing)
Section titled “Catalog (Marketing)”Opens your whole WhatsApp catalog inside the chat. There’s no header (the catalog thumbnail goes there), and exactly one catalog button, for example View catalog. You can choose which product’s image becomes the thumbnail.
Multi-product (Marketing)
Section titled “Multi-product (Marketing)”Shows up to 30 products in sections, chosen when you send. It needs a text header and exactly one product-list button, for example View items. Good for “Recommended for you” or “Back in stock”.
Authentication (one-time passwords)
Section titled “Authentication (one-time passwords)”For login and verification codes. Meta fixes the wording. You choose:
- the code button: Copy code, One-tap or Zero-tap autofill (Android apps),
- Code expires after 1–90 minutes (optional line),
- whether to add the security recommendation (For your security, do not share this code).
Exactly one variable, the code itself. No header, no media. Send these from your own system through the Developer API.
Common mistakes
Section titled “Common mistakes”- A limited-time offer with a footer → rejected. Remove the footer.
- A catalog or multi-product template with extra buttons → they carry only their one button.
- Picking Utility for these types → they’re Marketing-only, except authentication.
